Sanoca Volunteer Fire Department has received an
$8,000 grant from the state.
N.C. Insurance Commissioner and Fire Marshal Jim
Long made the announcement last week .
He reported that Sanoca Rural Fire District has
received a grant totaling $8,476.73.
Sanoca officials said the majority of the funds
were used to purchase a thermal imaging camera for
fire/rescue operations.
Money for the grant came from the state's Fire
Grant Fund, which was created in 1988 to help
volunteer units raise money for equipment and
supplies.
The funds are matching grants -- the state matches
dollar-for-dollar, up to an approved amount, money
raised locally to purchase necessary equipment.
"I am proud that we have this grant program in
place to provide departments like this one with
much-needed funds to continue their good work,"
Long said.
"We've done a lot of good with this money over the
last 15 years, and I intend to continue supporting
our fire and rescue organizations across this great
state.
Congratulations to the Sanoca Rural Fire District."
